Adams Street church of Christ - History

 

The Adams Street Congregation was established in 1949 by the dynamic preaching of Brother Luke Sherry, and by the aide of the College Avenue church of Christ of Enterprise, Alabama.  The congregation has been blessed to have Elder Lessie Rogers from its inception in 1949.  The congregation was established for the purpose of introducing New Testament Christianity to the southeast region of Alabama.  In its more than 50 years of existence as a congregation, Adams Street church of Christ has had the privilege of bring served by some of the finest gospel preachers of the current age.  The congregation continues to strive under the leadership of our elders, Brother Horace Jackson and Brother Lessie Rogers.  The congregation also has a deacon, Brother Harry C. Brown.  Today the Adams Street Congregation has over 250 members on roll, and averages 135 per Lord’s Day worship.  In the first 10 months of 2003, 40 souls were baptized into Christ, and the Adams Street Congregation continues to grow toward a bright future.
