Horace Jackson became a member of the
Adams Street Congregation a year after its inception in 1950. Brother
Jackson was born in Geneva County, Alabama, but spent most of his
childhood and adult life in Enterprise, Alabama. Brother Jackson came to
Christ during a tent meeting conducted by Brother John Henry Clay with the
assistance of Brother Luke Sherry. Since that time, Brother Jackson’s
commitment to the Lord and to Adams Street has manifested itself in the
lives of those he has touched over the years. Brother Jackson is a man of
few words and a sometimes “biting” directness. Brother Jackson is not
only well versed in the scriptures, but he has a commitment to their
application within his family as well as the congregation and community.
If asked to characterize himself, Brother Jackson’s humble spirit will
only say, “Don’t make me out to be a saint.”
Brother Jackson performed the function
of an elder many years before being ordained.
Brother Jackson’s primary area of ministry is evangelism, but he excels as
a “common sense and bible” marriage and teen counselor. His evangelism,
counseling and visitation efforts are felt in Enterprise, Coffee County, other parts of Alabama and the country. Brother Jackson always makes
himself available, but always remember: If you talk to or call Brother
Jackson, you may not get the answer you want to hear, but be assured. You
will get an answer that is honest, direct and biblically based. |

How could you describe Lessie Rogers in
one word? “Faithful.” Brother Rogers is faithful to his
family, the church and the cause of Christ. Brother Rogers is a life
long native of Enterprise, Alabama and was one of the founding members of
the Adams Street Congregation in 1949. Brother Rogers’ primary area
of responsibility is the worship phase of the church as well as the
finances of the Adams Street Congregation, but evangelism and personal
work is his passion. As a member of the evangelism team with Brother Jackson, Brother Rogers
conducts personal evangelistic bible studies. One of his evangelistic
tools is introducing Jesus Christ through the Jule Miller Filmstrip series.
Brother Rogers is instrumental is transmuting the introduction to Christ
into a meaningful personal relationship.
Helping Brother
Roger as his ministerial and life partner is Sister Irene McCray Rogers.
As of 2003, Brother and Sister Rogers have been married for 57 years, a
tangible example for the congregation. One of the hallmarks of the
ministry of Brother Rogers is the joy he experiences and gives as the song
leader of Adams Street. Heaven feels closer worshiping God through song
with Brother Rogers. |
